86 : 365 Practice

We gathered our family of six and flew across the country so we could witness the moment when my brother, Joe, married his beloved Jill.

But first, we all needed a little practice.

A few run-throughs and many laughs later and we were ready for Joe and Jill’s big day.

84 : 365 For the Love of (Growing) Families

It’s time for my monthly For the Love blog circle.  At the end of this post follow the link to Nina’s blog and then follow the link in her blog to the next.  Enjoy the inspiring work of the photographers in the circle.  You have made it all the way around the circle when you find yourself back here.

A little more than a week after their baby arrived, got together with Eden and Jace for some pictures of their whole  family.

That tiny baby boy has a big sister, Willow.  She’s the reason Eden is smiling in this photo.

(Willow has a special talent for making people around her smile.)

Jace told me Willow liked to hold her baby brother very briefly many times a day.

The time between these two photos? Five seconds.

Please follow the circle to Nina’s For the Love post.

75 & 76 : 365 Arrival

I have shared some photos of our newest neighbor. (here)

I was present at his birth to photograph his arrival. His parents have been generous enough to let me share some photos from the day he was born.

They chose to give birth with midwives at the Midwife Center of Pittsburgh. (This is where I gave birth to my babies too.)

It was a long day for Eden.  This first photo was from a walk to help contractions pick up steam.  Her baby was born twelve (long, hard) hours later.  Her husband, Jace, calmly supported her all day long.  It was amazing to witness her strength and determination.

And, there is nothing, nothing, like seeing a baby arrive in this world.

97 : 365 Where’s the Fire?

We are back from a deliciously long trip to California.  (Bodega Bay, San Francisco and San Diego specifically.)

We attended my dear brother’s wedding, rode a cable car, fell in love with the Golden Gate Bridge, played with cousins and rode some great waves.

Now we’re home: tired with jet lag and slowly emptying our suitcases.

Out of the six of us, my boy pictured above is the happiest to be home.  And ready to fight some fires. Firefighting is his latest passion.  The red bottle on his back? Oxygen tank.  Goggles? Firefighters need a mask.

(Daily photos from the trip are coming soon.)

Patient

For the next two weeks, I’m taking a break from posting daily photos.  I’m still taking them, but not posting them right away.

It will be a feast of images when the posting resumes.

Look for the light,

Jenny

79 : 365 Bedtime Reflections

When I look back at my first 365 project,  I notice how many times the kids are in the their PJ’s. Is it because I love bedtime?  No.  It means it was bedtime and I didn’t have a photo yet.

Tonight was that kind of night.  I looked over the 25 photos I had taken during the day and didn’t like any of them.

Good thing this little one doesn’t go to bed early.  She was happy to stand on the sink and make faces at herself while I took a few photos.

I don’t like the pressure of needing to get a photo every day.  But, the daily need for a photo pushes me get photos at one of the more hectic I-just-want-this-to-be-over times of day.
