57 : 365 Fire Bug

One of the summer’s greatest pleasures for my littlest has been catching lightning bugs – also known as fireflies.  She hears them called both names and blended them into fire bug.

This is the first photo I have ever gotten of a fire bug’s light. (ISO 6400, f 2.0, 1/100 sec, Canon 5D MarkII)

52 : 365 Girls

As we were packing up to go home, I realized that I didn’t take the time to get a photo with my lifelong friend, Victoria. (She’s doing a 365 in paragraphs here.)  I handed the camera to Savanna to get a picture of us together.  I wish I could find a photo of us at Laurel camp when we were girls.  I’m sure there’s one out there.

It might look a little like this one of our girls on the last day of camp.

51 : 365 Ding

We brought Augusta’s ride on bike (she calls it Ding) to camp.  There are little paths all over and I knew she’d enjoy riding all over.  I didn’t expect how the other kids at camp would love covering it in sidewalk chalk.  It was colorful all week long.

In the background of this photo is the last night of camp’s evening circle.  We sang goodbye to each other for until next year.

48 : 365 Evening Circle

Packing to go anywhere with my kids is almost enough to keep me home all the time.  Packing everyone up to go to camp requires extra effort – sleeping bags, towels, lots of changes of clothes, rain gear, and flashlights (oops, we forgot those this year).

But once were there, we’re more there  than we are at home.  And moments like this are a dime a dozen.

(This is my friend who I came to camp with as a kid.  Now were are at camp with our kids.)
