24: Tired

It was sunny and warm this afternoon.  When a beautiful afternoon comes along in October, I want to soak it in.  I picked up the girls at school and we all headed to the playground.  (I’ll share some of the photos we took there in the next couple of days.)  They ran in four different directions while we were there. It wasn’t long before everyone was exhausted. There was a lot of crying as we made our way out of the park.  I lost count of how many amused/sympathetic looks I got while corraling the kids to the car.

This photo was taken as soon as we arrived home.  I felt like putting my head down too.

22: A Photographer’s Family

My good friend, Christina, asked me to take some photos of her family.  It was a different assignment than usual. She is a great photographer and can get photos of her boys any day of the week.  She wanted me to do what she can’t do: get photos of her family with her in them.

Christina also asked for some photos with her husband, Matt.

Christina is a wedding photographer and takes photos of couples all the time.  I was excited to get some shots of her with her husband.  After the wedding, how often do couples get their picture taken?

They look like newlyweds in the photos, but they’ve been married nine years.  Like many couples with kids, they can find a quiet moment amid chaos!

When getting both boys in a photo together was proving difficult, we went with just one boy at a time.

May I introduce Christina, Matt and The Head…

A quiet moment with Mom.

The evening light and the boys cooperated in the end for this photo of everyone.

20: A Test

This is another photo from the evening of the cattail fluff.  I’m shooting a family photo for a friend tomorrow. (YAY!)  I took this photo because I wanted to see what the light was like at 4:00 these days.  Avery was happy to model a little for me when she wasn’t pulling cattails apart.

I’ll share some photos from the real shoot in the next couple of days.

16: Same Spot ~ One Year Later

October 13, 2011

October 9, 2012

Last fall she was a happy sitter.  I could put her anywhere and she’d sit and smile.  I spent the fall plunking her in lovely spots and taking photos of her.  This fall, she runs.  I put her in a spot and she’s off!

12: His Own Moves

Savanna isn’t the only dancer around here.

Our boy was a dancing fool when the music started to play at my brother’s wedding reception.  He was having a wild time and showed no signs of tiring.  Then suddenly, he disappeared.  I found him inside the house looking out the window at the party.  I asked him why he stopped dancing.  He said, “They played that duck song! I don’t want to do that! I’ve got my own moves!”  Translation: They played the Chicken Dance.  He didn’t want to do someone else’s dance.  He’s got his own moves.

(This photo was part of the wedding slideshow.)

10: May I Take Your Order?

While playing at Grandma’s one afternoon, the girls found this old phone.  They quickly put it to use.

Anne began taking orders for Parmesan Salads.  She said, “Are you sweethearts?  Parmesan Salads are free for sweethearts.”
