My nephew.
I fell in love with him when he looked like this.
And now look at him.

Do you have friends who you never run out of things to talk about with? You have more to say to after you talk to them for an hour than you did when you started?
This week my dear friend, Zane, and her family came to Pittsburgh. She is that kind of friend. We were together for most of three days, and the conversations never slowed. Of course, we were interrupted many times by our little ones (and not-so-little-anymore ones) but we picked up where we left off and kept talking away.
I’m already looking forward to our next conversation.
He talked his dad into a box of Captain Crunch. (He fell in love with it at camp last week.) Remember how sweet that milk is? Yup. He’s not leaving a drop.
(Day 59 is temporarily missing.)
One of the summer’s greatest pleasures for my littlest has been catching lightning bugs – also known as fireflies. She hears them called both names and blended them into fire bug.
This is the first photo I have ever gotten of a fire bug’s light. (ISO 6400, f 2.0, 1/100 sec, Canon 5D MarkII)
Only when I got up close did I notice how old she looked.
“I’m going to the store. What do you need me to get?”
