94 : 365 Beach Boy

Most of the real action at the beach happened in the water while my camera sat safely in a bag at our little beach camp.  I thought about getting a waterproof bag of some sort but unsure of my options – I chose nothing.

Never again.  I love watching my kids play in the ocean. I would love to have photos of their faces as waves approach and crash into them.

We have a trip to the Myrtle Beach in May.  I will figure out how to safely get my camera in the ocean by then.

92 : 365 Home Away from Home

We arrived at our third and final stop in California.

My reader didn’t take long to find a home away from home.

Project Note: I am over three weeks behind on posting photos.  I continue to take them but as far as posting I am still in California!  No big deal. I know. It’s my project. I know!

And here’s what else I know. It is more fun for me when I am posting the photos on the day or day after I take them. So, I’m not going to try to show all that we did on our trip. It was fabulous but I’m just going to pick one photo for each day and move along.

Here’s something else.

I didn’t realize until last night that I had this weird disappointment swirling around the photos from my trip.

Twenty years ago, I went to England.  I had this idea that I would be different when I was there because… I was in England.  Guess what?  I was me.

I had the same thing happen to me on this trip to California.  I thought I would be a different photographer because I was surrounded by fog and dramatic coastlines.  But, as it turned out, I was me.  I took the kind of photos of my family that I take at home, but in California.

91 : 365 Seaside

Time to get up and see some more!

Today some California coastline.

The biggest lollipops ever come with a warning…

The next day, we headed to San Diego to stay with Aunt Nellie and her family.

90 : 365 Tourists – Day Two

It’s San Francisco.  We’re tourists.  A cable car ride was a good way to start the day.

The girls would have been happy to shop in Chinatown for the rest of our vacation.

For me, we all went to Grace Cathedral so I could walk the labyrinth there.   Everyone else enjoyed the familiar fun of a playground while I was inside.

And, one more look at the Golden Gate bridge. (Photos by Savanna)
