112 : 365 Stay Awake

4:06 PM

I wanted her to go to bed before 9:30, so I didn’t put her down for a nap.  But by the late afternoon, she was a tired, sad girl.  Sometimes, a bath helps us get through.  She didn’t want that.  I got her a bowl of rice and a bowl of flour and let her explore.

She was happy until her brother and sisters found her and wanted to tell her how to do it.   You know, the right way to play with flour and rice.

The peace didn’t last as long as I wanted but it got us through to dinner and then an early bed time.

Photo Note: This is from wide aperture week – shot at f1.6.  I love what it does to leaves in the background.   On the downside, wide apertures produce a lot of almost  great images when the focus is off just a little.

For the Love of Play

It’s October’s For the Love blog circle today.  Follow the links in our blogs all the way around the circle until you find yourself back here. (It’s cool isn’t it?)

It’s fall in Pittsburgh.  That means sun and temperatures that are not too hot and not too cold.  Perfect.  Along side the perfection is the knowledge that cloudy, cold days aren’t far off.  Most mornings, I leave the dishes in the sink and the laundry in a heap and head to my kids’ favorite place: the playground.

When I say “the playground,” I really mean one of our many favorite playgrounds.

The above photo is at Blue Slide park – named for this blue (and red?) slide.

After ten years of watching my kids on plastic slides, this still cracks me up.

Sometimes she still likes the baby swing.  Other times, she’s wants the big swing.I

I couldn’t resist the lines and colors in this one.

I feel like I could go on and on with photos from playgrounds.   We are there so often and my camera is always by my side.

But, it’s a beautiful fall morning in Pittsburgh and we’re going outside to enjoy it.

Please follow our circle to Melissa’s post – For the Love.

105 : 365 My Boy

365 Project Note: These are more photos that never would have happened had I not taken on a daily photo project. Don’t you wish you had pictures like this with your mom? I do.  Oh.  There’s an idea for another day.  Photos like this of me and my mom. (Ready Mom?)

103 : 365 Rinse

365 Project Note:

I love the little push doing a daily photo gives me.   This was a day that I didn’t think about my photo of the day until it my boy was getting ready for bed.
